PC = Fucked

Well, my PC has kicked the bucket. I'm typing this from my laptop. My good 'ol HP has served me well for the 5 years it ran, if 4 people weren't abusing it, it might have lasted longer. So, I'm gonna try to send it in to HP, maybe they can get it fixed (hopeful without formatting my hard drive). If not, expect posting to slow down, and the photoshops will be put to a halt.

If it comes down to it, I will get a new PC. It'll be another HP. The only downside to it is it will have Vista, but I'll gladly pay to have it downgraded to XP.

Until then, You might not be hearing much from me for now.

UPDATE: Motherboard is dead, and I'm not going to pay the same price of getting a new PC for 1 circuit board.

I recently had a new HP with a 64-bit Vista OS. After the first couple of times, it kept continually getting a BSOD when I turned it on (but I always got it to go into Safe Mode, then restarted with no problems). However, it got to the point where it wouldn't even start up at all.

POS BSOD 64-bit OS HP PC.

I warn you, their support tech team is utter crap. I must also warn you that Vista 64-bit OS is even crappier.

Thus, I now use a Mac.

I've never had any problems with HP's tech support. But then again, I've never used vista on my own PC.

But then again I'm going to get it downgraded to good 'ol XP, so that shouldn't be a problem.

I should also mention that THAT computer was the second one of the same model -- the first one got returned due to a mysterious rattle emanating from the fan area.

And yeah, I, as well as my father, agree, PC > Mac for almost all purposes. However, the OSX's stability is even better than XP's, which I considered to be superb prior to purchase.

The major downsides? EPIC PHAIL at games, you can't take it apart to swap parts, and the fact that I don't care what my computer looks like, meaning that extra money was wasted on bells and whistles that I'll never use or appreciate.

But hey, it's an Xmas present. My dad was getting fed up with the HP comp, thus he just decided to purchase a Mac and get it over with.

I will be honest, the first type of computer I ever had contact with was an Apple Performa back in 1997 (or 1998, don't really remember) made by Mac. I remember doing all sorts of things on it. The painting program on it was awesome.

I do agree that Mac's OS's are usually more stable than Windows, but as with any computer OS, it has it's own set of problems. Though Mac's are a bit more frustrating than Windows. Mainly the problem being that you have to replace the whole computer if 1 part fries on you, and the fact that playing games on a Mac will prove enough to piss someone off. Also, if you get a virus on a Mac (it IS possible) good luck trying to fix it.

With windows, you get problems like mine, viruses, and a number of other things. Yet, these problems can be fixed easier than the same problems on a Mac. And yes, you can successfully game on a Windows OS (a good thing for people such as myself, and the vast majority of NG).

Also, I wish I had computer savvy parents. :(
